From a technical point-of-view, a bookmarklet is a little button that can be dragged from a web page to your browser’s Bookmark toolbar. Once clicked, they run a small piece of code that performs a simple action. For example, Read It Later: Save Your One Read Wonders has a bookmarklet that when clicked, will save the current web page to a read it later list that can be retrieved from a browser, or, smartphone. Simple, yet helpful.
What about that world wide shopping cart?
As part of AnotherSocialEconomy’s Open Multi-Channel effort to save you time and energy by enabling you to find and buy exactly what you want from local retailers, we’ll be bringing you the ASE Bookmarklet. Better yet, we’d prefer to private label, or, brand it [Your Company] Buying Network Bookmarklet.
That way Consumers visiting Retailers, Resellers and Referrers web sites, can simply drag the branded bookmarklet to their browser’s toolbar. To make matters even more convenient, Consumers can then fill in their Preferences, like Where, When and Who.
How it works
One of the basic AnotherSocialEconomy assumptions is that, while a vast majority of consumers search the web for opinions, consumer reports, support forums, or, bug reports during their selection process, they prefer making their purchases at a local retailer. So as a Consumer with the bookmarklet saved in my browser, I’m all set to shop the web for that good, or, service. Once I know exactly what I what, all I have to do is select the text using my mouse and then click the bookmarklet. That’s the What. I can then either tweak the Preferences, or, simply submit my request. Et voila! That’s it! All I have to do now, is simply wait for AnotherSocialEconomy’s acknowledgment and further instructions.
