Before writing about AnotherSocialEconomy, I have to write about Twetailer, then about Lusanga and even ezToff.
In the beginning there was Twetailer which can best be described by watching the Where Demand Comes to Meet Supply video.
Basically, I wanted to build something for myself & fellow techies. But I knew I couldn’t build it on my own so I came up with the Kool-Aid Solution and met my old friend Dom Derrien for lunch. Dom had his own ambitions, much more altruistic than my need to purchase a Nintendo Wii. Dom had visions of helping folks in Africa build schools, homes and clinics by empowering the local micro-finance non-profit organization Diku-Dilenga. But by the end of lunch we realized we could be both searching for the exact same solution, only slightly different.
And so the concept of AnotherSocialEconomy was born. From which a non-profit child emerged – Lusanga and the to-be profitable child Twetailer. All based on the exact same core engine, with only slightly different branches.
Along our journies, we picked up another good friend – Rick Boretsky to help us out on the Retail side of things. But the more we travelled and the further we got away from Cube Dwellers (techies) and the closer we got to those that can take us to the next level, the more push back we got about our solution being too techie. We wanted people to text messages (sort of like Command Line entries) and they wanted to just push a button (sort of like wanting Windows).
So after meeting Marc Bienstock, we decided to pivot, just a little, and enter the wide world of Golf. Hence, ezToff was born. Don’t get me wrong. We’re still true to our core and will still be able to reach developing nations with simple text messages. We just need to exercise our bits, to make a living, to help us get back to the broader scope of Twetailer, to help us get back to Lusanga.
And that’s my About AnotherSocialEconomy!
Please feel free to comment & reach out if you’d like more info, or, maybe have a AnotherSocialEconomy brain-child of your own that we could help you with.
